"There is an established and growing shortage of family and consumer sciences professionals to serve in educator positions in secondary education, higher education, and Extension education. This shortage increasingly results in educator positions going unfilled or filled with unqualified individuals. Shortages of family and consumer sciences educators and those enrolled in family and consumer sciences educator preparation programs too often result in program closures." More.

Why did you choose to be an FCS educator?
Ms. Kristi Knox
Current FCS Teacher
"I wanted to become an FCS educator because I wanted to make a difference in my students lives like my FACS teacher did for me. I gained so many valuable life skills from my high school FACS courses that I use every day and wanted to provide my students the same opportunity. Becoming a FACS teacher was the best choice and perfect fit for my career. I get to go to work everyday loving what I do and sharing my passion with my students."
Mrs. Betty McCormick
Previous FCS Teacher
"I wanted to teach kids practical life skills I know they would use in their future. FCS was also my favorite class in high school."
